National Youth Arts Week

Uth Daze is excited to announce that we’re going to be a part of National Youth Arts Week!

From May 1 to 7, 2012, young people across Canada will join together to host the largest youth-led celebration of creative expression and community involvement this country has ever seen.

National Youth Arts Week will showcase simultaneous youth-led projects from St. John’s to Vancouver and everywhere in between. It is an opportunity to demonstrate the power of youth to transform their lives and their communities through art, and in turn transform our country, and indeed the world.

We’re thrilled to be part of such an exciting week, and can’t wait to see the other events that will happen across the country. Be sure to check out their website to find out more about National Youth Arts Week- including how you can register your own event!

Calling all Volunteers

Do you want to get involved in Toronto’s arts community? Are you keen on gaining experience in event planning? Or do you just want to participate in a fun-filled weekend while giving back to the community?

Volunteer with Uth Daze!

Uth Daze is happening on May 4th-6th, 2012 at Artscape Wychwood Barns. That’s at 601 Christie St, near Bathurst and St Clair. The festival will include free creative workshops, performances, food, and more! But we need your help to make it all happen. We need volunteers for the following important roles:

  • Promotion and Planning: This would include brainstorming and implementing promotion strategy, to get the word out about this year’s festival. Duties might include writing and posting online event listings, putting up posters around the neighbourhood, or visiting local arts groups and schools to promote the festival. Dates would be flexible throughout April and early May.
  • Documentation: We need people to capture the festival’s activities and performances, to share with the community through our websites and blog! If you’re interested in photography, videography or writing, this would be a great fit for you. Dates would be May 4-6.
  • Festival Assistance: This is probably the most important role of all, since we can use all the help we can get on the weekend of the actual festival! Duties would include greeting and guiding festival visitors, assisting artist performers and facilitators, food and drink prep, and venue set-up and clean-up. Dates would be May 2-6.

If you want to get involved, send Amy an email at uthdaze.reconnexion@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
